Former Adelaide Crows star Tony Modra has shared an update on his recovery, one month after a serious truck crash near Back Valley.

The 57-year-old posted photos online, including one from his time in intensive care and his first family photo since the crash.

Modra said he was now “getting out and about a bit” and slowly catching up on everything he had missed over the past month.

He thanked the ambulance and hospital teams who treated him after the crash, saying they had “saved my life” and “put me back together with a few titanium plates”.

Modra was injured in June when the truck he was driving left the road and struck a tree near Back Valley on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The former AFL forward runs a beef cattle farm in Waitpinga, works as a cattle transporter and serves as an ambassador for the dairy and beverage brand Fleurieu Milk Company.

He has undergone multiple surgeries since the crash as he continues his recovery.
