A community group has launched a fundraising campaign to help the Bridgewater Raiders Football Club recover after flooding earlier this month inundated its clubrooms.
Activating Bridgewater is behind the appeal, which aims to replace equipment damaged when Cox Creek burst its banks during the heavy rain at the start of July.
Organisers say any funds raised beyond the club’s immediate recovery needs will be put towards developing a masterplan for a future multi-use sports hub on higher ground.
The Raiders say the incident caused significant damage, with some losses expected to fall outside insurance cover. The club says the damage also reinforces the need to relocate the clubrooms away from the flood-prone site.
