More than 60 millimetres of rain fell in Murray Bridge last week as a widespread weather system moved across the southern Murray–Darling Basin.
Data for the week ending the 4th of March shows Murray Bridge recorded 61 millimetres of rain, while Berri received 64 millimetres.
The rainfall was part of a much larger weather event across the basin, with parts of Victoria recording significantly higher totals, including 151 millimetres at Mildura Airport and 131 millimetres at Kerang Meran Downs.
Water managers say the rain has already begun influencing river operations. Inflows from the event are now being captured in Lake Victoria, while some transfers within the river system have been paused as demand reduces following the rainfall.
Releases from major upstream storages, including Hume Dam and Dartmouth, have also been scaled back in response to the wetter conditions.
