Two communities close to our region have been named among the top 10 finalists in this year’s South Australian Ag Town of the Year awards.
Waikerie in the Murraylands and Stockwell in the Barossa Valley have both been recognised for their contribution to agriculture, community life and regional resilience.
The award, run by PIRSA in partnership with Solstice Media, celebrates towns across the state that demonstrate innovation, sustainability and strong agricultural heritage.
This year’s finalist list is dominated by towns in the Yorke and Mid North and Eyre and Western regions, with no Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula community making the top 10 this year.
The shortlisted towns will now submit detailed applications before being assessed by an independent judging panel, with visits to each finalist also planned.
The winner will be announced later this year at the South Australian regional showcase awards.
Previous winners include Cleve (2019), Pinnaroo (2020), Kimba (2021), Mypolonga (2022), Wudinna (2023), Penola (2024) and Lameroo (2025).
