Night works to repair crash-damaged barriers on the South Eastern Freeway will begin this weekend, with motorists warned to expect reduced speeds and lane restrictions.
A B-double jackknifed after striking a concrete barrier and embankment near the Crafers exit on the 9th of April, causing severe, 12-hour closures and gridlock.
Crews will be on site between Crafers and Glen Osmond from Sunday the 10th of May through to Thursday the 14th, working each night between 7pm and 6am.
The freeway will remain open during the works, but speed limits will drop to 40 kilometres an hour while crews are on site, increasing to 60 kilometres an hour during the day.
Temporary fixes allowed speeds in the area to increase to 80 kilometres an hour, but once works are complete, limits will return to normal – 90 kilometres an hour on the down track and 100 kilometres an hour on the up track.
Drivers are being urged to slow down, follow traffic controllers and observe signage when travelling through the area.
The works come ahead of a larger $200 million dollar Managed Motorway project planned between Crafers and Glen Osmond, which is expected to begin in late 2026.
