A 93-year-old man from Myponga has died following a crash at Hindmarsh Valley on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Victor Harbor Road and Hindmarsh Tiers Road just after 11am after reports of a collision between a Ford SUV and a garbage truck.
The driver of the SUV died at the scene.
The truck driver – a 51-year-old man from Hindmarsh Island – was not injured.
Major Crash Investigators attended the scene, with Victor Harbor Road closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision, to contact Crime Stoppers and quote reference 142700.
The man’s death is the 47th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
