Stolen Motorcycles, Jewellery & Weapons Among Seized items in Encounter Bay

Police have charged a 32-year-old Encounter Bay man after allegedly uncovering stolen property, prohibited weapons and cannabis plants during a search last week.

Officers from Victor Harbor Police searched a home at Encounter Bay on Wednesday the 11th of February. Among the items seized was a Kawasaki motorcycle identified as one of three bikes stolen during a break-in at Middleton on the 12th of January. A whipper snipper reported stolen from Back Valley in October was also located. Police say they also seized a machete and a crossbow from the property.

The 32-year-old was arrested and charged with unlawful possession and possess prohibited weapon. He was refused police bail and appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court. A 67-year-old Encounter Bay man was also reported for cultivating cannabis after officers allegedly located three cannabis plants in the backyard. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police are continuing to investigate and are appealing for information about two green Kawasaki motorcycles – an X230 and an X140 – which remain outstanding. Officers are also seeking to identify the owners of a quantity of suspected stolen property including motorcycle helmets, sunglasses, mobile phones and jewellery, pictured.
