Critics Are Saying ‘F1 The Movie’ is a Certified “Blockbuster”

After four years in production and a rumored $300 million budget, F1 The Movie is finally shifting into high gear, set to hit Australian cinemas on June 26th. This highly anticipated film promises to put audiences in the driver’s seat like never before.

The movie had its star-studded premiere in New York last night, where the real-life Formula 1 drivers mingled with the drivers from the movie who are none other than Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as well has Hollywood celebrities on the red carpet.

Early reviews for the film, which will later stream on Apple TV+ (its primary financier), have begun to roll in and they’re lighting up the dashboard.

Drew Taylor of The Wrap described it as “one of the coolest, most entertaining movies you’ll probably ever see.” Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes critic Austin Burke raved about its “pulse-racing spectacle,” calling it “THE must-see movie of the summer” and highlighting its exceptional sound design and electrifying score.

Jazz Tangcay, editor at Variety, shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “WOW! F1 is an action-packed, thrilling dive into the world of F1 racing, full of grit. The sound, score, and cinematography are flawless. Damson Idris and Brad Pitt are incredible! Absolutely obsessed.”

Maude Garrett from Nerdist called the film “so freaking good,” praising its adrenaline-fueled action, emotional depth, pacing, and well-crafted characters. Mark Daniell, National Entertainment Editor for The Sun, summed it up as “the perfect summertime (or Aussie winter) blockbuster,” emphasising that it’s a must-watch for both Formula 1 fans and newcomers alike.
