A 32-year-old woman has been discharged from the Flinders Medical Centre after suffering from a snake bite.
SA Ambulance Service said they were alerted to an incident at Deep Creek just after midday yesterday, 3 September.
Due to the location’s remoteness, a special operations team was sent in via helicopter to assist the woman who believed she had been bitten by a venomous brown snake.
The woman, who was conscious and breathing, was located and winched out by the helicopter and taken to hospital stable condition.
SA Health representative confirmed to us she has now been discharged.
Rolly Burrell, snake catcher and the owner of Snake Catchers Adelaide said he’s been receiving calls for jobs for the past six weeks which is an early start to the season.
“Last year we never got a spring so we missed out on roughly three months of the season, so yeah it looks like its going to pick up this year and start early. Usually it starts early October but its going to start running through September,” Rolly Burrell told ARN’s Adam Connelly and Jennie Lenman this morning in a radio interview.
He has advised if locals see a brown snake, to give it plenty of room as it may see you as a threat.
“If you have a healthy respect from them, and you leave them alone and if you can observe them if they’re in your garden and keep your distance away, and don’t let them see you move. Call a snake catcher and your job’s done.”
