A new retreats program aims to help South Australians with disabilities to combat the impact of social isolation over the colder months.

Community Living Australia’s new Winter Warmer retreats program is accessible to those with NDIS funding, and includes animal encounters at Monarto Safari Park, activities during the Adelaide Hills Winter Reds Festival and trips to the city for Illuminate Adelaide Festival in August.

People can also opt for a stay at the organisation’s accessible and supported holiday home ‘Myranth House’ in Strathalbyn.

Chief Executive Mark Kulinski said the program aims to help people who experience the ‘winter blues’.

“These months can be especially difficult for those living with disabilities to stay connected due to factors such as geographical isolation, transportation barriers, and access to vital social circles,” Mark Kulinski said.

“Community is at the heart of our organisation, and our new retreats program at Myranth House is a wonderful example of bringing people together for meaningful connection and fun activities that empower and enrich lives,” he said.
