A local footy player is heading to the world stage after qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
The Imperial Footy Club’s Riley Pearce finished the Sunshine Coast event in 4 hours and 49 minutes, completing a 1.9 kilometre swim, 90 kilometre bike ride and 21.1 kilometre run.
Competing in the 18-to-24 age group, Pearce finished among the leading athletes, earning one of just 30 qualification spots for next year’s championships in Tennessee.
