State Government To Trial Out-Of-Hours Preschool

Local preschools are being urged to apply for an out-of-hours trial funded by the State Government. 

Regional preschools within the Greater Adelaide area, such as the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula, will be recognised with priority, along with preschools in large rural hubs such as Murray Bridge, as they look to help children at more of a disadvantage.

The expression of interest comes after the Royal Commission’s report into early childhood education was released, suggesting more flexible arrangements should be available to parents and guardians.

The State Government says it will aim to reduce the rate of South Australian children entering school as ‘developmentally vulnerable’ from 23.8 per cent to 15 per cent within 20 years – well below the national average of 22 per cent.
