Round Ten Footy Wrap – 24th June

An extraordinary round of thrillers and finals-like matches saw the temperature move up a few notches across our regions; catch up on all of the local footy action here:

HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)

Saturday’s grand final rematch in Division One of the Hills Football League lived up to the hype, with Hahndorf pipping Nairne-Bremer by 4 points in their blockbuster at QubeLogistics Oval.

The Magpies kicked straighter when it mattered, slotting 4.1 to 2.3 in the last quarter to halt the Rams charge and remain undefeated for 2024.  

Other results from the round saw Uraidla Districts, Mount Barker and Mount Lofty all win to confirm their places in the top five.

Over in the Country Division, their grand final rematch was less climactic with Gumeracha winning by 30 points over Meadows in another statement victory for the defending champions.   

GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

Myponga-Sellicks have reminded the Great Southern competition of their title credentials, after ending McLaren Districts 7-game winning streak with a thrilling 4-point win on Saturday.

After playing out a draw in their Round One clash, the Mudlarks and Eagles were involved in another rollercoaster, however Myponga-Sellicks took the full points this time round to keep themselves in touch with the top four. 

The favourites took the chocolates in the other games, with Encounter Bay moving into second as a result thanks to a 16-point win over Willunga.

RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

Saturday’s clashes in the River Murray offered a full complement of interesting results, as the league continues to build towards a fascinating finals campaign. 

Imperial managed to survive a thriller against the Southern Mallee, with the Double Blues claiming a gritty 5-point win to jump back into second at the expense of Mypolonga, who lost by 20 to Jervois.

Tailem Bend pulled off a big upset to claim their first win of the season by beating fifth-placed Mannum by 30 points, while Rambler almost staged a huge upset of their own, falling 11 points short of the league leading Coorong Cats.
