An Adelaide Metro driver has been stood down, pending investigation, after CCTV footage showed a bus accelerating through a train crossing as a freight train approaches.
The incident occurred as lights were flashing at the Nairne level crossing at Burns St and Old Princes Highway.
An AdelaideMetro spokesperson provided a statement on the incident.
“Service provider SouthLink, which operates this bus service, has been provided with the dash cam footage and is conducting a full investigation. This will include downloading the CCTV footage from the bus and talking to the driver,” the statement reads.
“We take these incidents very seriously and will work with SouthLink to fully investigate and understand what has happened.”
SAPOL was not alerted to the incident until we contacted them about the story on Tuesday morning. They have passed it on to the Traffic Branch for investigation.
