The City of Victor Harbor has commenced construction of a Pump Track at the existing site of the Victor Harbor BMX Track (adjacent Victor Harbor Oval).

The new Pump Track will feature an all-weather asphalt surface with berms, start mounding, roller bumps and turns, creating a dynamic surface for riding.

Existing ageing tracks and infrastructure will be removed in order to install the new junior-friendly facility.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor, Dr Moira Jenkins, said this is an exciting project for the young skaters, riders and scooter-users of Victor Harbor.

“This project has been guided by feedback from students at the Victor Harbor R-7 School. When we consulted with them in 2021, they articulated that more skate facilities for beginners and juniors were needed,” said Mayor Jenkins.

“This need was also reflected in the feedback we received from the wider community, and it was consultation that helped us to identify Victor Harbor Oval site as the preferred site for a facility upgrade.”

“It’s really fantastic that our community, including our youngest skate park users, have been involved in the planning of this facility, and now the Pump Track is becoming a reality!”

The City of Victor Harbor has appointed TrailScapes as the contractor to construct the Pump Track.

To ensure safety, the Pump Track area will not be accessible to the public while work is underway. Alternative places to skate and ride during this time include the Youth Skate Park (Flinders Parade, Victor Harbor) or one of many local bikeways.

The Victor Harbor Oval and nearby Inman River Walking Trail will still be accessible as usual, however visitors should be mindful of construction activities and adhere to any directional signage.

It’s expected that construction will be completed in June 2024, subject to any unexpected delays. Residents and visitors can learn more at www.victor.sa.gov.au/pumptrack
