Man Attacked after Dog Death in Strath

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Strathalbyn, in which a dog died after being hit by a car and the driver was then physically assaulted.

Authorities were called to Berry Smith Drive at around 7.45pm on Friday 28 Apri, following reports of a collision and an assault.

A dog had been struck and killed by a car.  It is alleged a 31-year-old local man then assaulted the driver of the car.

The victim of the assault, a 19-year-old Strathalbyn man, was taken to the Mount Barker Hospital by ambulance with facial injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.

Police arrested the 31-year-old, and charged him with assault cause serious harm.  He was refused police bail ahead of a court appearance on Monday 1 May.
