Man Arrested Over Holiday Rental Robberies

A man has been arrested after breaking into a house at Middleton, with a large amount of stolen property from the house and other south coast properties that was allegedly found at the suspect’s home.

SAPOL alleges on Friday 5 July, patrols were called to a house in Jasmin Drive after the owner of the property reported seeing a person entering the house via CCTV cameras installed at his property.

Police examined the footage and identified a suspect.

Victor Harbor CIB detectives then attended a Victor Harbor address and located a large amount of stolen property including whitegoods, TV’s, barbecues, outdoor furniture, computers, power tools, wall art and plants that is suspected to have been stolen over several months from holiday rental properties on the southern Fleurieu Peninsula including Goolwa, Middleton, Hayborough and Chiton.

A 21-year-old man living at the premises was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and being unlawfully on premises. He was refused bail and appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court.

He was later bailed to appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court on 6 August.
