The State Opposition are hoping to win over regional voters with their Main Street Activation Fund proposal.

$12 million would be allocated over four years to give councils scope to upgrade or update the main streets of their local towns, by utilising empty shopfronts, creating pop-up events or through beautification projects.

Member for Heysen Josh Teague says it’s an important area to focus investment on.

“When I think of the towns in my own electorate, the main street is a beloved place where we come together in good times and in bad, making them a vital investment,” Teague said.

“A bustling main street not only fosters community pride but also stimulates the local economy by attracting visitors and supporting small businesses.”
