RIVER MURRAY
Jervois have locked in their place as the River Murray frontrunners, after beating Imperial by 30 points in the grand final rematch on Saturday.
The Bluds kicked seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to bury the contest, keeping themselves undefeated for 2023 with a 15.7 97 to 9.13 67 win.
Mypolonga also put themselves in the top four with an important 24-point win over the Coorong Cats (13.5 83 to 9.5 59), while Rambler managed to beat Tailem Bend 15.7 97 to 12.4 76 despite trailing at every break.
Mannum also held off Mallee Districts to win 16.15 111 to 12.6 78.
GREAT SOUTHERN
Two vital top-five clashes in Round Eight of the Great Southern Footy League took place on Saturday, with Myponga-Sellicks and Victor Harbor the major winners.
The Mudlarks won an arm-wrestle against Willunga to hold onto second, winning 11.13 79 to 7.11 53, while the Roos kept Mount Compass at bay all afternoon to take home a 34-point win (17.7 109 to 12.3 75).
In other matches, Langhorne Creek held off another stern challenge from Goolwa/Port Elliot to win by 10 points (10.17 77 to 9.13 67), while McLaren Districts beat Encounter Bay (12.10 82 to 5.12 42) and Strathalbyn outclassed Yankalilla (16.14 110 to 11.4 70).
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Hahndorf have fended off another challenger in Division One action on Saturday, beating top-four hopefuls Onkaparinga Valley by 48 in Balhannah.
A 10 goal to 4 first half set up the Pies for another comfortable win (14.16 100 to 7.10 52), which takes them to 8-0 this year and keeps them two games clear at the top of the table.
The rest of the matches across Saturday were lopsided; with Nairne Bremer’s 151-point win over Blackwood (28.12 180 to 4.5 29) the largest among four 80-plus margins.
Mount Lofty smashed defending champions Lobethal (18.14 122 to 6.5 41), Mount Barker was equally dominant against Ironbank-Bridgewater (25.15 165 to 12.6 78) and Uraidla Districts held Echunga to just one goal in an 81-point win (13.14 92 to 1.5 11).
