Local Footy Wrap – Grand Finals

Victor Harbor, Nairne-Bremer and the Coorong Cats have claimed their respective flags across three entertaining grand finals on Saturday. Catch up on all the action here:

GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (result here)

The drought is finally over for the Victor Harbor Footy Club, with the Great Southern flag theirs after a 25-point win over McLaren Districts on Saturday.

The Roos kicked the only three goals of the last quarter to pull away for the win, after a see-sawing clash which favoured one side of the Victor Harbor oval.

Vice-captain Jackson Elmes led the way with three goals and named best on ground.

It’s Victor Harbor’s first A grade premiership since 1999.

RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (result here)

The Coorong Cats have gone back-to-back in the River Murray Footy League after beating Jervois in a thrilling grand final at Tailem Bend on Saturday.

The Cats and Bluds have played out tight matches this season and the grand final was no different, with Coorong holding on in a arm-wrestle to win by 5 points, 7.13 55 to 7.8 50.

Cats stalwart Matt Hartman was named best on ground. 

With the win, Coorong have now won 35 of their last 36 matches.

HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (result here)

Nairne Bremer are back on top of Division One of the Hills Footy League, after they hung on to win by 14 points against Lobethal in the grand final at Heathfield.

The Tigers worked hard to get back into the contest by three quarter time, but it was the Rams who surged home to win 11.10 76 to 8.14 62, with Zac Llewelyn claiming the best on ground.

It’s Nairne Bremer’s second flag in three seasons.
