Local Footy Wrap – 8th September

The Hills Country Division grand final is now locked in, with Kangarilla to face Macclesfield next week after they cruised through their prelim on Saturday, while the other three leagues saw their pacesetters book spots in their deciders. Catch up on all the finals action here:

HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)

Mount Lofty’s year of great promise has ended in a straight sets exit, after they lost by 21 points to Lobethal in yesterday’s Hills Division One do-or-die semi-final.

The Devils were on top for most of the season, however lost their last three matches of the year to crash out, leaving the Tigers to advance to next week’s prelim.

They’ll play Uraidla Districts, after Nairne Bremer bounced back after a slow start to win by 23 points, booking their third straight grand final appearance in the process.

Over in the Country Division, Kangarilla has made it to the decider against Macclesfield, after the Double Blues belted Echunga by 61 points in Saturday’s prelim.

RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

The Coorong Cats are a win away from going back-to-back in the River Murray Footy League, after they outlasted Jervois in Saturday’s second semi-final.

The Bluds got the jump early and led by two goals at the first change, however the Cats gradually took control to run out 15-point winners, making them the first side to reach the grand final.

Jervois will next week face Imperial in the prelim after the Double Blues comfortably beat Southern Mallee by 33 in the do-or-die semi yesterday.

GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)

Victor Harbor are going back to the Great Southern Footy League grand final, after they sent a convincing statement with a 45-point win over minor premiers Willunga on Saturday in the second qualifying final.

The Roos broke free in the last quarter to lock in their place in the decider, kicking seven goals to one to storm home and give themselves another chance at a flag.

Myponga-Sellicks won’t have their chance to go back-to-back, after they were run down by McLaren Districts in yesterday’s semi-final.

The Eagles won by 31 points in the end, leaving them to face Willunga in next week’s prelim.
