With the Hills Country Division starting their finals and the rest of the leagues in our regions wrapping up their home-and-away seasons on Saturday, it’s officially the pointy end of the local footy campaigns. Catch up on all the action here:
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)
Mount Barker, Blackwood and Onkaparinga Valley wreaked havoc on the final round of Division One of the Hills Footy League, with all three non-finals sides beating their finals aspirants on Saturday.
As a result, Uraidla Districts ended up winning the race for third by default, leaving Lobethal and Hahndorf to face off next week in the elimination final.
Elsewhere, Nairne Bremer claimed the Courier Cup and the minor premiership with a 26-point win over Mount Lofty, leaving the Devils to face Uraidla Districts in the qualifying final.
Over in the Country Division, Kangarilla has won a 14-point arm wrestle against Echunga in their qualifying final and Gumeracha’s premiership defence is over after they were smashed by 110 points in the elimination final against Kersbrook.
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
The two finals preview matches in the Great Southern Footy League went down to the wire, pointing to great things to come as the regular season wrapped up on Saturday.
Victor Harbor won a thrilling grand final rematch with Myponga-Sellicks, saluting by 9 points in a shootout, while Encounter Bay stamped their premiership claims with a 2-point win over McLaren Districts.
As for the first week of finals, those four teams mentioned will play with Victor Harbor and McLaren Districts playing in Yankalilla in the qualifying final, while Encounter Bay face Myponga-Sellicks in the elimination final.
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
The final round of the home-and-away season on Saturday for the River Murray Footy League has produced some upsets, albeit in dead rubbers.
Southern Mallee got a valuable tune-up with a 28-point win over Imperial, while Rambler finished their season on a high note with a 25-point win over Jervois.
The first week of finals will have Jervois and Imperial play in the first qualifying final, while Southern Mallee face Tailem Bend in the elimination final.
