Mount Lofty and Hahndorf have played out another thriller, with the Devils winning again by 7 points as part of the split round in Division One of the Hills Footy League.
The Pies at home surged late to nearly steal the contest but it was Mount Lofty who won their third straight game against the perennial powerhouse, which keeps them top of the table with two rounds left to play.
Saturday’s other match saw Lobethal beat Blackwood by 59 points.
Over in the Country Division, Echunga took a huge step to clinching a double chance spot in the finals by beating fellow contender Kersbrook by 44 points.
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
The top five beat the bottom five in the Great Southern Footy League on Saturday, which has all but locked in the finals picture for 2025.
Sixth-placed Mount Compass needed an almighty upset against ladder leaders Willunga and were outclassed in a 72-point loss, while Myponga-Sellicks easily beat Goolwa Port Elliot to move two games clear in fifth.
The other results saw McLaren Districts beat Yankallila by 35, Victor Harbor smashed Strathalbyn by 140 and Encounter Bay bested Langhorne Creek by 67 points.
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Imperial have held off a firm challenge from Tailem Bend in the highlight of Round 16 action in the River Murray Footy League on Saturday.
The Double Blues had to ward off a fightback from the Eagles who charged in the third quarter, but held on for an 18-point win which officially confirmed their double chance in the upcoming finals.
The rest of the round went the way of the favourites as well, with Coorong, Jervois and Southern Mallee all winning on Saturday.
