The SANFL has handed down their punishment to a River Murray Football League club caught breaching player payment regulations.

The Jervois Football Club has been fined $26,500 for failing to disclose travel payments and full payment details, which breached the match payment limit.

The club will also lose four premiership points for this upcoming season and the next, and will be limited to four points under the SANFL’s Player Points system for 2024 and 2025.

The SANFL noted that the club and all of its individuals were fully cooperative during the investigation, with that being taken into account with the penalties applied.

SANFL Head of Country Football Shawn Ford says the punishment should serve as a warning.

“The penalties issued to Jervois Football Club are a reminder to all community football clubs that breaches of the salary cap regulations will be comprehensively investigated by the SANFL Integrity and Compliance department,” Ford said.

“The Salary Cap regulations have been in place for some time and there is no excuse for any player or official breaching these rules.”
