The Ironbank-Cherry Gardens Football Club could be on their way to the Southern Football League, pending a vote from their members.
A Special General Meeting has been called for September 13, to discuss the club’s future amid a tumultuous 12-month period, with the league transfer subject to a motion.
A prospective move would round out the Southern FL to 10 teams, however bring the Hills Division 1 down to 9 sides.
The announcement comes three weeks after their attempted merger with Bridgewater-Callington was voted against, with both clubs to separate after a joint venture this year.
Both seniors sides struggled in their sole Hills Football League Division 1 season, combining for just 3 wins in 36 games en route to 2 wooden spoons.
The Thunderers were however far more successful in the Country Division, making finals in every season from 2016 to 2022, including the 2020 premiership.
