Humpbacks and Southern Right Whales are the region’s two most commonly spotted species during the cooler months of the year, when the marine animals come to give birth and nurse their young.

The season usually runs from May through to September or October, with a month-long Whale Fest in Victor Harbor during winter. The 2023 festival has been confirmed for this year with the City of Victor Harbor calling for expressions of interest from businesses to take part.

Stay tuned to the South Australian Whale Centre Facebook page for up to date whale sightings.
