Monarto South residents are getting fed up with hoon driving in the region.

There have been reports of drivers using the dog leg of Ferris McDonald Road and Chaunceys Line Road to repeatedly do burn-outs.

Police were called to the area around 10pm on Saturday 7 October but were unable to find the drivers responsible.

Residents have expressed concern about the dangerous behaviour as well as the smell of rubber and broken and abandoned tyres on the street near the local conservation park.

“These drivers keep the residents awake with their burnouts on a regular basis,” one resident told us, anonymously.

“Numerous calls to the police have not stopped their behaviour.”

SAPOL says dangerous road users are one of the five biggest contributors to lives lost and serious injury crashes on SA roads.

“Hoon driving is dangerous driving, and this behaviour will not be tolerated on public roads. To put other road users at risk by driving in such a manner is reckless and selfish,” a SAPOL spokesperson said.
