Students from the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula were among those honoured at Government House on Wednesday the 11th of February as part of this year’s SACE Merit Ceremony.
Aldgate students Amy Wallace and Rose McCullough received Governor of South Australia Commendations, along with Charlize Liddle of Birdwood, Holly Paech of Mount Barker, Amalie Coleman of Balhannah and Zara Hart of Encounter Bay.
The six local students were recognised among 40 South Australians awarded the prestigious commendation, presented to students who combine academic excellence with strong leadership and community contribution. In total, 1,221 students across the state received one or more subject merits for their 2025 South Australian Certificate of Education.
Governor Frances Adamson said it was a privilege to host the ceremony at Government House.
“This ceremony celebrates students’ outstanding academic results, as well as the dedication, focus and perseverance they have shown in achieving them,” she said.
Merit recipients must achieve an overall grade of A+ in a Stage 2 SACE subject and demonstrate exceptional achievement, with commendations determined by an expert panel including the Governor.
