A four-star hotel and giant entertainment complex is destined for the Adelaide Hills.
Under plans by Wallis Cinemas, a massive redevelopment has been proposed for their Mount Barker cinema , including a 100-room hotel and rooftop function centre.
The hotel would be built on the car park, with a flexible function centre for 300 people on the roof overlooking the nearby park and historic Auchendarroch House.
Two cinemas would be demolished and repurposed into two-storey entertainment areas with duckpin bowling, laser tag, two nine-hole crazy minigolf courses, arcade games, and a food and drink area.
Another cinema would also be upgraded for live performances, concerts and theatre under the plan.
Wallis is aiming to have the entertainment and function areas open in the second half of 2026 and the hotel open in 2027.
Plans will be submitted for final approvals early next year.
Wallis Cinema is consulting with key stakeholders, including Mount Barker District Council, state and federal government representatives, Walter Brooke Architects, and Forthwell and Savills, to ensure the project supports broader goals of the region.
