There is finally some good news for Hahndorf locals, with a new owner stepping in to take over the town’s only supermarket.
The store’s IGA branding was recently stripped after the previous operators failed to meet quality and operational standards. They shut on the 30th of June, leaving stock to rot on the shelves.
The site has since been taken over by an IGA operator who already runs a number of other successful stores across the region.
They plan to undertake a full refurbishment of the premises, with a focus on creating a clean, reliable and community-driven store. Locals can expect the new-look supermarket to open in the coming months, bringing much-needed services and stability back to the main street.
The news comes as a relief for traders and locals, including residents from the nearby nursing home.
More details about the relaunch and opening timeline are expected soon.
