Freeway Crash Knocks Tree Into Cyclist’s Path

A driver and cyclist have been taken to hospital following a crash on the South Eastern Freeway.

Emergency services were called to the South Eastern Freeway, Mount Osmond at 7pm last night, Monday 29 June, following reports of a crash.

Police say a Ford Ranger left the road and went down an embankment into a tree, knocking the tree down. A cyclist riding past along the bike path a few seconds later then crashed into a fallen tree branch.

Both the P-plate driver, a 17-year-old Bridgewater boy, and the cyclist were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

The Ford Ranger was towed from the scene.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
