Fines Handed Out for Fire Danger Season

Authorities have issued a reminder about Fire Danger Season following two incidents along the River Murray.

On the first day of the season for the district on Wednesday 1 November, CFS and SAPOL were called out to a grass fire at Swan Reach.

A 73-year-old man was issued a $572 fine after accidental grass fire got out of control.

About 8.30pm, MFS and Police attended a small burn off at Renmark West property.  A 59-year-old man was issued a caution expiation notice.

SAPOL said in a statement that this is a timely reminder to members of the public the start of the Fire Danger Season has now commenced in the Murraylands and Riverland and is soon to start in our other districts (Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Metro and Kangaroo Island from 15 November.

“It is a good time to prepare for fire season, including knowing what you can and can’t do during the Fire Danger Season and on Total Fire Ban days,” SAPOL said.
