The SA Country Fire Service has confirmed the final Fire Danger Season dates for 2025–26, urging South Australians to get bushfire-ready ahead of summer.
The season will begin on Kangaroo Island on the 15th of November, followed by the Mount Lofty Ranges and Adelaide Metropolitan districts on the 1st of December.
The Murraylands, Riverland, and Upper and Lower South East districts all commenced Fire Danger Season on the 1st of November.
CFS Executive Director of Statewide Operations, Brenton Hastie, said residents and travellers must not become complacent.
“The majority of South Australia has begun the Fire Danger Season and it’s important that anyone living, working or travelling through bushfire risk areas prepares and remains aware of the serious threat of bushfires,” Mr Hastie said.
He urged the public to review or create a bushfire survival plan, prepare their homes and properties, and check restrictions around fire use and high-risk activities.
The CFS says the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island are both high-risk zones during summer and attract many visitors, so travellers should plan ahead and know where to find safer places.
Resources, including a two-minute traveller bushfire plan and interactive maps, are available at cfs.sa.gov.au.
A permit is required for most burning activities during the Fire Danger Season or on Total Fire Ban days, with information available via local councils or the CFS Information Hotline on 1800 362 361.
