Port Elliot has extracted revenge for last year’s grand final in the Great Southern Cricket Association, by comfortably beating Noarlunga in the season opener on Saturday.

Despite making only 137 from their 40 overs, Port Elliot won by 51 runs thanks to a dominant bowling performance, which included four for 27 from Sam White.

Other matches saw last year’s minor premiers in Goolwa fail to make a splash on opening day as they lost by 33 runs to Willunga, and Victor Harbor’s return to the A Grade was also not one to remember with Myponga/Sellicks beating them by seven wickets.

Both the Murray Towns and Hills Cricket Associations will start next weekend.
