Mypolonga claimed another Murray Towns title, the Great Southern grand final is now set and two powerhouses impressed in the opening round of Hills finals. Catch up on all the action here:

MURRAY TOWNS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecard here)

Mypolonga are once again the champions of the Murray Towns Cricket Association, after they held off a strong challenge from Mannum to win by 20 runs in Saturday’s decider.

Stephen Mills played a pivotal 70 to help Mypolonga reach 8/186 in their 45 overs, before the Tigers were able to claim consistent wickets to keep the Kookaburras at bay in their chase. 

Camron Jorgensen led the way with the ball, taking 4/38 in his 9 overs.

It’s the Tigers third title in four years, with the last three finals being played between the two sides. 

GREAT SOUTHERN CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The Great Southern’s two best performers in the regular season will face off in the grand final next week, after Encounter Bay and Port Elliot claimed their semi-finals across the weekend.

Encounter Bay were particularly dominant in their 186-run win over defending champions Noarlunga, with Matthew Overall making a staggering 192 and Cameron Lintern being unbeaten on 135. 

The ball did the talking in the other semi, with Port Elliot winning by 30 runs despite making just 113, thanks in part to 5/13 from Ben Griffiths.

HILLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The Hills Cricket Association’s finals have gotten underway with two comfortable wins, as Mount Lofty and Stirling came out victorious in convincing fashion.

Mount Lofty are now into the grand final after beating Scott Creek Ironbank by eight wickets, the second time in as many weeks that they’ve achieved that feat.

Nick Justice’s unbeaten 85 led the way in a comfortable chase for the Redcaps, as they reached 167 with 11 overs to spare.

Stirling thrashed Mylor by 158 runs in the elimination final, with Stirling making a huge total of 7/333 thanks to 156 from opener Jack Read.

ALEXANDRA AND EASTERN HILLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION

The Alexandra and Eastern Hills Cricket Association however saw two abandonments due to the heat, meaning Langhorne Creek have advanced to the grand final in a fortnight’s time, while Nairne have been eliminated. 

Lobethal will play Strathalbyn in next weekend’s prelim.
