A community group is concerned that a private developer’s pitch for a major $350M marina development on Encounter Bay’s Bluff is potentially back on the table.

While the City of Victor Harbor rejected Mark Taplin’s proposal for a public consultation on a proposal for a marina project on crown land, featuring a convention centre, hotel and apartment complex, he is continuing to lobby for support.

Despite not owning the land, having the finance for it, he is appealing to the Government to release the crown land.

The Save the Bluff group will be rallying against the plan at the Bluff car park this Sunday 4 November from 12pm.

The group has also gathered around 2,350 signatures on a petition on change.org. There is also a paper version at many business outlets in Victor Harbor, Hayborough, Port Elliot and Middleton.

The group said it is not anti-development, but any changes to the area need to be done respectfully and with the environment and community in mind.
