The much beloved Heritage Railway Cockle Train is back on track after recent incidents have threatened to keep the service out of action for the school holidays.
Two recent derailments, including a collision with a truck over a level crossing on 14 June, had meant the popular historic train service was offline for several weeks.
With Keolis Downer donating time to fix the tracks, along with work from volunteers, SteamRanger Heritage Railway reinstated the service along the south coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula yesterday, 9 July.
The two red hen railcars affected by the derailments are still getting fixed, newly restored cockletrain railcars are back up and running.
