Motorists will be required to slow down to 25km/h near broken down cars across the state, as authorities look to further expand safety measures on SA roads.
The new rule, which starts next Monday, goes further to protect those waiting for help, following previous changes to help keep drivers of tow trucks and assistance vehicles safe.
The 25km/h speed limit will not apply to drivers if the stationary breakdown services vehicle is on the opposite side of the road they are travelling.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Tom Koustantonis says it’s imperative that safety comes first.
“This campaign is driving home the roadside safety message and calls on all road users to slow down for a breakdown to ensure everyone can get home safely,” Koustantonis said.
“Pay attention, slow down and stick to the limit to protect the people who answer the call when car troubles strike.”
