An SA Health warning has been reissued for dog owners around Lake Alexandrina and the Goolwa Channel.

Recent water samples show blue-green algae levels, which may be toxic to animals. It is advised pets do not drink the water or swim in it.

Boating is still allowed and any fish caught for consumption should be cleaned and gutted thoroughly.

Unlike other blue green algae, the species is not easily visible to the naked eye.

It follows an SA Health warning for the region in March 2024.

Lake Albert does not currently pose a health risk.
