Four new councillors will be chosen across the Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker districts next month following a series of resignations earlier this year.

The Adelaide Hills Council will hold two supplementary elections for its Ranges and Valleys wards, replacing outgoing members Melanie Selwood, Pauline Gill and Louise Pascale. Mount Barker Council will also fill its South Ward vacancy left by Narelle Hardingham.

Six candidates have nominated for the Adelaide Hills Valleys Ward, while another six are standing for the Ranges Ward. Three Mount Barker contenders are in the running for the district’s South Ward seat.

Adelaide Hills Acting Mayor Nathan Daniell encouraged residents to take part, saying every vote helps to strengthen local democracy, while the Mayor of Mount Barker David Leach has stressed the importance of community input, saying each councillor plays a role in shaping decisions for the entire district.

Ballot packs are being mailed to eligible voters this week, with the deadline for returns set at midday on Monday the 22nd of September. The count will be conducted the following day.
