Adelaide Hills councillors have unanimously voted in favour of supporting the 2026 Tour Down Under stages within the region.
Leith Mudge has this week moved a motion to secure funding for the premier cycling event, with his colleagues agreeing to an $80,000 spend next year.
The funding specifically will go towards road maintenance, traffic management support, public space preparation, tree works, site activations and logistical assistance.
He argued the festival brings a significant boost to the local economy, puts the Hills on the world stage thanks to international media coverage and brings a sense of community pride and spirit to the region.
It comes as there’s a question mark over the future of sponsorship of the event, as naming partners Santos is being sold to a consortium of investors.
