The Adelaide Hills Council has ended its employment relationship with Chief Executive Officer Greg Georgopoulos.
The decision was made at a special council meeting on Wednesday, with the council saying a change in executive leadership was needed to support its future direction and strategic priorities.
In a statement, the council thanked him for his service and contribution to the region.
“The Council sincerely thanks Greg for his service, commitment to our community and contributions to our preparedness for future sustainability,” the statement said.
Mr Georgopoulos joined Adelaide Hills Council as CEO in July 2023 after five years as CEO at Kangaroo Island Council and previous local government roles at Prospect and City of Port Adelaide Enfield.
Under the terms of his contract, he will receive six months’ pay in lieu of notice.
Director of Environment and Infrastructure Jade Ballantine has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Council says it will soon begin recruiting a permanent CEO as part of what it describes as a “refreshed strategic vision” for the region.
Karoonda CEO’s Moves to the Coorong
Following news overnight of the Adelaide Hills Council CEO stepping down, Karoonda East Murray Council has announced their CEO is also moving on.
Scott Reardon has resigned from his position after accepting an opportunity with the Coorong Council as CEO.
He will remain with Karoonda Council over the coming months, allowing time for a handover and transition with the district to commence the process of recruitment for their CEO role.
