There’s been several fires overnight ahead of today’s predicted destructive winds and stormy weather, including three suspicious grass fires on South Para Hills Road in the Adelaide Hills.
Between 10.20pm and 11.15pm on Sunday 25 May, three separate grass fires are believed to have been deliberately lit near South Para Road, in Chain of Ponds, Kersbrook and Williamstown.
Fire crews brought the flames under control, with no damage caused to nearby properties.
Police suspect the fires may have been deliberately lit and anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Crews Battle Lenswood Fire in Windy Conditions
In a seperate incident, firefighters and local farmers have been battling a bushfire burning at Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills.
Just after 4pm Sunday, crews from Lenswood CFS, along with farm fire units were responded to reports of a grass fire in a paddock at Lenswood. Soon after, additional crews from Lobethal, Woodside and Oakbank Balhannah were responded.
A rubbish fire, lit around a week ago had thrown up some embers in the strong winds, and set fire to nearby grass and scrub. Crews worked hard in windy conditions to contain the fire.
Water bombing aircraft assisted, with four drops on the fire. Additional crews were called in around 6pm, to assist with mop up with the fire considered to be controlled and safe later in the evening.

Severe Weather Warning Monday
There’s a Severe Weather Warning out for Damaging, locally destructive winds across SA today with winds of over 120kmph possible.
There is also a separate warning for Abornormally high tides for coastal parts of the state.
The SES advises securing or putting away loose items around your property, staying indoors and moving vehicles under cover away from trees as dry soils bring an increased risk of gusty winds toppling trees.
