Adelaide Hills residents will soon have more transport options with the inclusion of 15 new buses into the local fleet.

In a bid to reduce freeway congestion and support the growing region, the State Government is investing $19 million on the new hybrid-diesel vehicles.

Off daytime services and weekend services will start to increase from 29 January.

By the middle of the year it is expected that buses will run on the South Eastern Freeway every six minutes in peak periods and at least every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm.

Once fully implemented, Hills commuters will benefit from an additional 104 services each weekday, 22 on Saturdays and 48 on Sundays – representing an increase of 590 trips each week or 42 per cent more services.

Feedback gathered during the Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills Transport Study has helped to inform these service changes, with the State Government also committing $6 million towards the upgrade and delivery of additional parking at the Crafers Park ‘n’ Ride facility.
