The Murray Bridge Council is calling for community feedback on its draft Mobile Food Vendor Policy.
The proposal outlines a more flexible approach including preferred locations, defined operating hours as well as a rule to have a 200-metre separation from fixed food businesses offering the same product at the same time.
The draft Policy removes a fixed list of approved sites and instead assesses applications on safety, amenity and business impact, with a maximum 24-hour stay at any one location.
The aim is to make the rules clearer and more practical, while supporting public safety and fair competition.
Consultation is open through to early April.
The draft Mobile Food Vendor Policy and Management Guidelines are available on Council’s consultation portal (letstalk.murraybridge.sa.gov.au), with paper copies available at the Local Government Centre and the Murray Bridge Library.
