ATSB Investigates Fatal Murray Mouth Plane Crash

Three men have died after a light plane crashed into the ocean at Long Bay near Goolwa South on Friday afternoon.

Police say emergency services were called about 4.20pm on the 6th of February following reports the aircraft had gone down near the Murray Mouth.

All three men on board were found dead. They were experienced pilot, 53-year-old Leo Howard of Morphett Vale, and trainees 18-year-old Tristan Scheffers of Freeling and 20-year-old Lucas Di Biase of Pasadena (pictured).

The wreckage has since been recovered and brought ashore.

Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) are investigating as inquiries continue. SA Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Police have thanked emergency services including the CFS, SES, Sea Rescue crews and commercial operators who assisted with the search and retrieval operation.
