Mayor Lobbies State Govt. For Horse-Drawn Tram Assistance

The Victor Harbor Mayor is calling on the State Government to help cover losses for the city’s horse-drawn tram.

The Horse Tram Authority has posted a $170,000 deficit this year, with income badly hit by the algal bloom.

But the state has rejected the request, saying the tram is a council responsibility and has already received assistance through the Coast Is Calling voucher program.

The tram is facing its second year of major setbacks, following the death of one of the main horses last year from Ross River virus.
