A new splash park is opening at the Adelaide Hills War Memorial Swimming Centre in Woodside this weekend.

The $750,000 project was jointly funded by the Adelaide Hills Council, the Australian Government and local community partners through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

The new facilities feature a dumper bucket, water cannons, cascading mushrooms, sprays, and a rock feature with a hand pump. Local designers took inspiration from the region’s vineyards and native flora.

Acting Mayor Nathan Daniell said the splash park adds a valuable new attraction for families across the Hills.

“As the only outdoor swimming centre in the region, this splash park offers families a safe, fun and accessible place to cool off on hot summer days,” he said.

Chairperson of the Adelaide Hills War Memorial Swimming Centre, Andrew Stratford, said it’s an exciting milestone for the community.

“Water safety starts at a young age, and with these new facilities we now have a space for the little ones to enjoy the water and begin learning those vital skills in a safe and fun environment,” he said.
