A young woman has been charged after a fatal crash at Mobilong.
Just after 1.20pm, Tuesday 19 August, emergency services were called to Pump Road, after a car left the road and plunged into an irrigation channel.
The driver, 21, from Northern Heights managed to escape the wreck and raise the alarm at a nearby home. Police officers were first on scene and jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue the passenger from the submerged vehicle.
Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, her passenger, a 21-year-old Murray Bridge woman, died at the scene.
The driver was treated in hospital for minor injuries and was arrested and charged yesterday with causing death by dangerous driving. She was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on the 29th of September and has lost her licence until further order.
