The Tolderol Game Reserve on the northern shore of Lake Alexandrina has just reopened following a $7.6 million restoration.
Part of the Healthy Coorong, Healthy Basin program, the works have expanded the managed wetland area by 60 per cent, adding more than 150 hectares of shorebird feeding grounds.
New pumps and earthworks will help regulate water flows across the site, improving habitat for migratory and local birds.

The wetlands are a popular destination for birdwatchers, particularly between September and March when thousands of shorebirds arrive.
